Our Origin Story
As Emerald Tiger we're on a mission to make everyday moments a little more joyful, a little more colorful and a lot more memorable – while embracing the perfectly imperfect-ness of real life and the little moments that make daily life worth living.
For us, it all started with a text from Kim to the group chat in August 2022…. “Does anyone want to start a dinnerware/ nice, bright pattern filled plates company with me? Not even kidding.” Within two hours Emerald Tiger was born. Within a few days, business plans were drafted, marketing ideas were flying and what started as a spark was a fully burning flame.
We’re all inspired by travel and share a love of beauty in color, textiles, design and nature. In many ways it is always what has united us as friends. Well, that and the fact that we worked together for eight years previously…
Our real meet cute occurred in 2014 when we found ourselves working together at HubSpot, a software company based in Boston. Together we worked on many things but the most significant of which was HubSpot’s annual event – INBOUND – which drew nearly 30,000 people to Boston each year. In short, Kim led the INBOUND branch of the business at large, Jamee was largely responsible for Creative execution and Laura led all things Content & Marketing – sound familiar? We know our strengths… ;) It was at HubSpot and through our work together on INBOUND, that we learned the nitty gritty of running a successful business inside and out.
But, back to the friendship that launched a thousand plates. After many years of working together, we not only built a deep and trusted relationship as colleagues, we also built a genuine friendship that existed well beyond the bounds of 9 to 5. So, we did what girlfriends in their 30s/40s do – we planned a week-long vacation together. Ours was to Marrakesh, Morocco and to say it was magical would be the understatement of the decade. It was on that trip that we built indescribable connections, made memories to last a lifetime and together reveled in the colorful joys that are found nearly everywhere in Morocco.
Our trip also coincided with a time in each of our careers where we found ourselves searching for more. Searching for purpose. Searching for passion. Whether we knew it or not, we found each of those things on that fateful day when Kim not so jokingly said, ‘want to start a company?
Emerald Tiger has brought color and a vibrancy into our lives and we’re thrilled to translate the joy and passion that we’ve found together into products that will bring the same to you, your home and beyond.
